Additional Info

New York City-based photographer, filmmaker and self-professed ‘pop-culture junkie’ Lyle Owerko shot the Conion CF-100 at the apex of it’s loud and defiant personality – the quintessential audio device of the 1980s – as part of his acclaimed series "The Boombox Project". In this photographic typology, Owerko represents an era of discovery and sonic innovation that launched the hip-hop movement. The monumental size of the present work reinforces the significance of the Boombox as an icon of popular culture. Sought after and coveted by celebrities and sports stars alike, a part of this series is held in the permanent collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
